Hi, I’m Devon. I’m a single mom to two amazing teens—my daughter is 15 and pregnant, and my son’s bedroom is literally our living room. Our home is falling apart: • One toilet barely works, the other doesn’t at all • My kitchen cabinets and walls are crumbling • We had an outlet catch fire—it’s on the same breaker as the stove and the air conditioner • We have no underpinning, and the cold/heat comes straight in I don’t get child support or assistance, and I’ve somehow fallen into this “middle class” category that doesn’t qualify for help—even though we’re struggling to survive. I’m working every day to hold it together, but I can’t give my daughter a safe space to bring her baby home to in January. I started this fundraiser because I need help building or buying a safer home—one with real walls, working plumbing, and a room for my son that isn’t the living room floor.
