After 7 year of relative health, Dan's cancer has come roaring back. He is scheduled for immunotherapy starting next week, and surgery in September. We are reaching out to our friends and extended family who we have been lucky enough to receive support from in the past, and we are hoping in this time especially you can continue to support us in whatever ways you can.

As Dan has already had his lifetime limit of radiation therapy, options are limited. After surgery he will never be able to swallow again and his ability to speak will be greatly compromised. He was scheduled to teach several classes at local community colleges, but he will be unable to teach for the semester and the outlook is possible that he shan't be able to ever again. He also has a PET-scan scheduled to see if the cancer has spread elsewhere in his body, which will affect treatment and prognosis.

We are in emergency mode, with two dogs and two kids and without income right now. I am working with someone to try and find a job, but have thus far been unsuccessful.
