Hello, my name is Tori, and I’m creating this fundraiser on behalf of my sister-in-law, Caroline, and her husband, Caleb. Caroline recently developed multiple blood clots throughout her leg, and one traveled to her lung. Thankfully it was caught in time, but she is now on strong blood thinners and requires ongoing monitoring, ER visits, CT scans, and ultrasounds to make sure the clots don’t move or cause further damage.

Even with insurance, the medical bills, tests, medications, and time both of them have had to take off work have created a heavy financial burden. Caroline is still recovering — she has just started walking again but tires very quickly, and everyday tasks are still difficult. All of this comes at a time when she is finishing her education degree and working full-time, while Caleb is working and preparing for medical school.

They were newly married just a few months ago and were excited to enjoy their first holidays, trips, and normal newlywed life together. Instead, everything has been put on hold as they navigate this unexpected medical emergency. There are no answers yet whether or not the blood clots will resolve or continue to put her at risk.

This situation has also been emotionally traumatic for our family, as we lost our mom to a similar condition. We are incredibly grateful Caroline survived, but the fear and uncertainty have been overwhelming.

We are raising funds to help them with:

• medical bills not covered by insurance

• ongoing testing, scans, and follow-up appointments

• medication costs

• help replacing lost income during recovery
