Aid Family With Life Expenses

Donation protected
Dear Friends, Family, and Kind-hearted Supporters,

We never imagined we would be in a position where we would have to ask for help like this, but our family is facing an incredibly difficult and urgent situation. With heavy hearts, we are reaching out for support as we try to raise $50,000 to cover the remainder of our lease through June of 2026 and ensure a stable home for our children, as well as help with NICU expenses for our newborn son.

Recently, we welcomed our beautiful baby boy, Crew, into the world, but he was born prematurely and remains in the NICU with no clear timeline for discharge, due to myself being diagnosed with Preeclampsia. Every day is filled with uncertainty, and while our priority is his health and recovery, the financial strain we are facing has made this journey even more overwhelming. The cost of his extended hospital stay, along with our existing expenses, has become more than we can handle alone.

Before giving birth, my work hours were significantly reduced, making it harder to stay on top of our bills. On top of that, my fiancé was laid off in November 2023 after many years with his company. Despite his tireless efforts to find work—including countless applications and interviews—he has yet to secure stable employment. One job offer was even rescinded, adding to our hardship. These unexpected setbacks have left us struggling to make ends meet.

We have three children at home, all under 13, and we are doing everything we can to provide them with stability during this difficult time. However, we have fallen behind on bills, which has led to our phones being shut off, the repossession of one of our two vehicles, and now the risk of losing our only remaining means of transportation. This makes it even harder to find work and care for our family.

This situation has also been incredibly challenging for me personally. As a survivor of the Route 91 mass shooting, I live with C-PTSD, and the stress of our current circumstances has only made things harder to manage. Still, I continue to fight every day for the well-being of our family, but the weight of it all has been overwhelming.

Adding to our hardship, we have been served three eviction notices. Although we were able to dispute them before, our landlord has now taken us to court. Despite applying for rental assistance nearly a year ago, our application was denied. We have another application pending, but time is running out, and we are doing everything we can to keep a roof over our children’s heads. Even with this information, our landlord has shown little sympathy during this time. To them, it’s just another investment property; but this has become our home.

We are not looking for a handout—only a chance to catch our breath and get back on our feet. The funds we are trying to raise will go directly toward rent, ensuring that our family remains housed while we work toward financial stability, as well as help with our son’s medical expenses. This support would give us the time and security we need to rebuild, find employment, and create a better future for our children.

As parents, we are doing everything in our power to hold our family together. We are exhausted, scared, and humbled by this situation, but we refuse to give up. Our children deserve the security of a home, and our baby boy deserves to come home to a place of love and stability.

If you are able to contribute, no matter the amount, we would be forever grateful. If donating isn’t possible, simply sharing our story would mean the world to us.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, generosity, and prayers. We are holding onto hope that, with the support of our community and faith in God, we can get through this storm and build a brighter future for our family.

With gratitude and humility,
Brittany, Dewayne, & Kids

Update as of 3/13/2025:
Thanks to your support, we were able to secure enough funds to stay in our home for now and avoid eviction. We attended our hearing on Monday the 10th, and the judge showed compassion after reviewing our documentation and understanding our situation. However, on our way back home, our car’s check engine light came on. After getting it checked by our mechanic, we found out the transmission is slipping and needs to be replaced — with a minimum repair cost of $5,900. Just when we thought we were finally catching a break, another challenge hit us. And on top of it all, Crew is still in the NICU. It feels like one crisis after another, with multiple struggles piling on at once, never giving us a moment to breathe.
