Aid Brenson Sekas in Overcoming Health Challenges

Hi, my name is Chanelle, and I’m writing on behalf of my brother, Brenson Sekas, and our whole family. Brenson married the love of his life on October 26, and just a few days later, on October 30, his life took a difficult turn. On the first morning of their honeymoon in Costa Rica, Brenson woke up feeling intense vertigo. They tried to push through, but things only got worse, and they ended up coming back to California 10 days early.

After seeing several doctors, including a neurologist, ENT, and many others, Brenson was diagnosed with vestibular migraine and acute bouts of BPPV. For the last several months, he’s been dealing with dizziness, nausea, light sensitivity, vertigo, tinnitus, and an overwhelming sensation of falling—like being at sea in a violent storm, with no end in sight.

After countless medications and tests, including MRIs and CT scans, nothing showed up that could explain his symptoms. And then, in January, another symptom appeared—insomnia. Sleep had been Brenson’s only escape from the constant pain, but now even that was taken from him. There were nights where he couldn’t sleep for days, and after three months with no answers from doctors, he began to lose hope. It was his wife’s strength that carried him through each day. She kept telling him he would get through this, even when he didn’t believe it himself.

Brenson struggled with feelings of anger toward God, asking why this was happening to him. But despite his frustration, his faith remained. Eventually, after months of no answers, they turned to alternative medicine. Four different people, from completely different backgrounds, suggested we look into specialized dentistry within the same week. They shared stories of others with similar symptoms linked to issues with root canals. So they immediately scheduled a consultation for February 17 to check this off the list.

But on Valentine’s Day, before they knew that teeth were a problem, the pain in his neck and head became unbearable, so he and his wife went to the ER. After nine hours and an MRI of his neck, there still were no answers. The pain was so intense that he was certain something was wrong.

Finally, on February 17, Brenson received some answers. A dentist took a simple x-ray and found three highly infected teeth. Two of them had failed root canals, and the third was next to one of these. He also has mercury fillings that might be causing metal poisoning. Despite not feeling any tooth pain, the infections may have been affecting his body, especially his brain.

Today, February 19th, Brenson had emergency teeth extractions for all three of the infected areas. While the infected teeth were removed, there is still infection on a deeper level.

They still don’t know if this has been the cause of Brenson’s medical situation over the last four months. All we do know is that Brenson’s symptoms have kept him from being able to work, and every day has been unpredictable. We as a family are seeking help to support Brenson and Maddy financially as they continue to search out answers holistically, as they have exhausted all western medical options.

This has been a long and painful journey for Brenson, but for the first time in months, we finally have some hope. We’re incredibly grateful for all the love and support from friends and family during this challenging time, and we continue to be hopeful as he moves forward in his recovery. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers.
