Aid Angela's Daughter's Fight for Life

My name is Angela Phillips Lapp, I am a native to Dodge City, KS. I run a flower business, but my most rewarding role is Mom, and Grandma. I never in a million years thought I would become a caregiver to my daughter, and help raise my grandchildren, but in 2020 our lives changed forever. In the midst of covid when hospitals could only have one visitor, and you could not accompany anyone to the doctor my 30 year old daughter was diagnosed with stage 3c High Grade Serous Carcinoma, an ovarian cancer! My family had already been through so much, and at the time I was helping my daughter leave an abusive relationship with her two small kids, but our lives quickly became all about fighting for hers. We lived 14 hours away from one another, and I gladly put life on hold, to go stay with her and take care of her. What started out as noticing a lump in her abdomen, became the fight of her life. There were many times over the next year that we did not think she would make it, there were soooo many complications, but she is resiliant and she just kept proving them wrong! There were lots of surgeries, and the chemo was almost too awful to live through for her she struggled mentally and emotionally she lost her hair, her strength, she lost her job, all of her income was placed on disability that only amounted to half of what she was making she left that relationship became a single mom who still to this day receives no child support so she is solely responsible for her children. She never stopped fighting, and eventually she went into remission, and started her life over moved to kansas to be closer to family, and started looking forward, she remained on a chemo maintenance drug which still caused her to be tired and sometimes sick, but it was manageable unfortunately this past september she received a phone call while waiting in the school pickup line for her children that confirmed the cancer was back and was on her liver. She began making 5 ½ hour drives back and forth to Kansas city for treatments. She lost her hair again and quickly started fighting depression and again for her life. Due to reactions she had to be placed inpatient to receive treatments, more time away from the kids and her family after 6 rounds she began to have some heart issues and had to take a little break after a few months the cancer was growing again and spreading, her lungs and starting in lymph nodes, she was told that the chemo regiman was no longer as effective to her they called it platinum resistant. Losing hope she began searching for better answers she traveled to md anderson and by the grace of god they sent her to oklahoma university and she was placed on a phase 1 clinical trial they have seen good results with this trial, and very few that it hasnt shown improvement with there cancer, unfortunatelty the likleyhood of ever being cancer free again is about 10%, at this point we have to just pray and have faith and know that she's either not done here or she will be called home, but she's not done fighting. She is receiving these treatments every 21 days, spending multiple days in Oklahoma and then returning every week, sometimes driving over 8 hours in a day just to go and come back, she has spent alot of time away from home and her kids who are 10 and 6 and need their mom with them as much as possible! These treatments are really rough on her. She spends a week and a half in bed unable to do anything non stop vomiting and nausea, multiple trips to the ER for meds and fluids! During all of this she got a new place for her and the kids, she dealt with some unforeseen life circumstances, she lost her medical insurance, dealt with the kids struggling mentally and emotionally, she is unable to work or supplement her income consistently she has had medical bills piling up, constant travel costs for treatments, perscriptions, she is in need of a lawyer to make sure her kids future is secured, my goal is to ease her burden in any way possible as her mother I want her to be able to fight without the other stressors weighing her down I want her to be able to spend time and make as many memories as she can with her kids, they adore her! Let's help her fight anyway we can even if you can’t donate. We appreciate prayers or positive words to lift her up during this time in her life, or even just sharing this page ! #noonefightsalone I want her to be able to enjoy the life she has left here on this earth!
