Hello everyone,
Unfortunately, my family is facing some tough times this holiday season. In the middle of October, I found out my ex-wife and mother of my 3 kids was diagnosed with pancreatic and liver cancer. As a lot of us saw with our good friend passing quickly this year of pancreatic cancer, it is a horrible diagnosis. I do not know how much longer she has or if she will make it through the holidays. Her condition is deteriorating quickly. I do not have any communication with her, so all my information comes through my kids.
When we found out the news, my girlfriend Kiala and I started looking into a move to Orlando. The night before we were set to fly to MCO to look at houses, she received news that she has stage 2 breast cancer. You just can't make this up! She will go through chemotherapy and will need surgery. She will need to stay in NJ to go through treatment, and I will need to move to Orlando for my kids.
Which brings me to why I am reaching out and asking for help. She will not be able to assist me financially while she focuses on her own issues. I spoke with my supervisor, and there is nothing the company can do to assist me aside from offering me an unpaid leave, as this does not fall under FMLA to them. After a long, expensive 5-year divorce that was just finalized last year, my funds are still diminished and loans maxed out. I am hoping to be able to take a month or two off to move to a new place and be there for my kids to help them adjust to life without their mom. It took me a long time to decide to do this, as our egos can get the best of us, and asking for any type of help is not my strong suit. However, I find myself up against a wall, and I don't know how else I will manage without a little assistance.
I know this is a tough time of year for everyone, but any type of contribution or prayers that anyone can do to help me through this will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Also, if you see me in the terminal in the next few weeks and I look extremely tired or stressed to the max, now you will know why.
