Ulster Rapid Response is calling on our community to support an Ulster County family as they fight to reunite with their loved one who has been deported to Central America. This beloved family is facing an unimaginable crisis after one of their members, who was also the primary income earner, was taken from immigration court and immediately deported without warning.

The remaining parent, who is in the US seeking asylum, is now preparing to self-deport with their young children in order to reunite the family. With the family separated and no viable options to stay together in the United States and meet their basic needs, their best option is to return to their country of origin and reunite the family.

We are asking for support so that this family can cover travel expenses for four members and have enough funds to land safely. At this moment, the most we can do is help resource them with the cash they need to travel and provide a small safety net for housing and basic necessities while they work to rebuild their lives.

The truth is that for the safety and well-being of this family, we are unable to share any more details about this situation.

This is a traumatic and devastating situation, and sadly it is becoming more common as federal immigration enforcement increases its deportation and terror campaign. In the Hudson Valley and across the nation, we have seen ICE target workers, leading to family separation and pushing many families into dangerous economic conditions. For some, this results in the impossible choice to self-deport in order to survive and stay together.

Please act now on behalf of this family. We will not abandon our immigrant neighbors as they’re being forced out of the community they’ve called home. Not now, not ever.
