Hello everybody! My name is Austin Hall from Aledo, Texas. Recently, I was elected as a national delegate to represent Senate District 30 (Wise, Jack, Parker, Palo-Pinto, Denton, Collin, Wichita, Grayson, Archer, Jack, Young, Clay, Montague, and Cooke Counties) and the great State of Texas at the 2016 Democratic National Convention this July in Philadelphia.
I am super-duper excited for the opportunity to attend and make your voices heard as we set the platform and nominate our candidates during the convention! I have the distinguished honor of being a pledged Hillary Clinton delegate, and couldn't be more excited to be fighting for/with her as she unifies the inspiring energy throughout the Democratic party to defeat Donald Trump and make history once again.
However, with the convention being one of the most sought after locations during the election cycle, the cost of travel expenses is especially grand, most notably the hotel. The Texas delegation will be staying at the Marriott Philadelphia Airport, where rooms are starting at $500+ a night for our 5 night stay. Additionally, delegates are required to pay for their own travel to Philadelphia and for most food and activities that occur during the convention.
Being a 21 year-old recent college graduate with plans to move to Washington D.C. and start graduate school in the fall, any money fundraised and donated to help ease the bearing of costs in Philadelphia will be so extremely appreciated. Being a national delegate is not cheap by any stretch of the imagination, but fighting for the Democratic cause and making your voices heard outweighs any burden of financial costs I may incur from going to the convention, and I truly could not be more excited.
I would be so thankful for any assistance. Anything truly does help. 100% of the fundraised amount will be solely used for traveling, lodging, and food while in Philadelphia. The dates are from July 24th-29th, 6 days and 5 nights, and any assistance will be so thankfully accepted until July 20th.
Finally, thank you so very much once again. Fighting for everybody to have their voices heard and represented equally has become a life-long mission of mine, and I could not be more honored to be representing so many people at the convention in Philaelphia. At the end of each night, I will be writing a blog that outlines my experiences and will be sharing it on social media for all to see.
