Congregation Agudas Israel is a small synagogue in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. In the early morning of January 21, 2026, tragedy struck . The building where we store all our equipment and supplies to keep our cemetery beautiful was destroyed by fire. Nothing was salvageable.

The history and importance of our Jewish Cemetery cannot be overstated. Not only is it one of the most beautiful and well-maintained cemeteries in Saskatchewan, it is one of very few Jewish cemeteries in this province.

No official cause of the fire has yet been determined. We are awaiting word from

the insurance adjustor as to what he has found.

We need to rebuild. We have no choice. We have already started by borrowing and buying some items as we need to be ready for a funeral at any time. In fact, we had a funeral at the cemetery on January 28 th . With the generous support of neighbors and friends we were able to accommodate the funeral for the family.

We need your help now. Although we have some insurance coverage, the

insurance will not be enough to rebuild as we need to. We are asking for your

generous support in donating to our Cemetery Rebuild Fund.

Many of you have loved ones interred in our beautiful cemetery.
