HELP FOR A GREAT DAD!
For a wheelchair van & house modification.
My husband Ron has muscular dystrophy - limb girdle, which is a progressive disease that effects the nerves and muscles in the body. We have been married for 19 years and have been blessed with two amazing boys 14 and 16 years old. I have watched my husband's condition deteriorate over the years and now we are at the point where he is close to being confined to the wheelchair 100% of the time and unable to drive a standard automobile. In the past, Ron was active in spite of his disability attending and participating all the boys activities including Boy Scouts, Little League and more recently high school football games, band practices and special school events. He worked a full time job to support his family for many years. As a husband and a father he provides support in many other ways. As his disability progresses we have had to make modifications and changes to all aspects of our lives. Our greatest challenge now is that we are faced with enormous financial challenges in order to make modifications to our home for wheelchair accessibility and in purchasing a mobility van. Ron needs to get to his regular doctor's appointments and help transport the boys to their various activities. In addition, in order for Ron to get around in our home we need to make modification including replacing the carpet with a wood flooring and modifying the bathroom for wheelchair accessibility. The used mobility van/truck runs approximately $45,000, driver entry, + taxes/warranty and we have obtained estimates on the home modifications which came to approximately $37,000. This page has been set up to help us fund these expensive items during this very difficult time of transition for us. The doctors told my husband he would be in a wheelchair full-time 25 years ago, we are grateful he made it well beyond their expectations and predictions. Lord willing we will get help with these items, so we ask for your consideration and help. We would also appreciate your help by letting others know about our request.
Sincere Blessings,
Sally
