Afro-indigenous single father in need of support

Hi, my name is Althea, and I'm facilitating this collection plate on behalf of beloveds who choose to stay behind the scenes.

This collection plate is for a man in our community over in Dominican Republic, Davíd. Davíd is a community organizer, a devoted father, a helper, & a giver. He was a successful business owner until he lost his business at the height of the pandemic, all while being the sole financial support for his family. This business was not only their main source of income, it was also a safe haven for youth in his poor community. Unable to rebuild, he has made it by for almost two years working a distant, low-wage, exploitative job and being a merchant on the side to support his family. His employment situation came to a head and he recently quit.

Davíd is ready to rebuild financially and reclaim his labor from those who will exploit it. His plan is to use this money for the down payment on a car so he can drive for Uber, get his mother to medical appointments more easily and efficiently, and jumpstart his existing side hustles into a sustainable business.

Davíd's sole passion is building ways for youth to have a safe place to be, grow, and have fun. While this collection will be used for a car, the car is simply a means to get back to solid ground so that he can get solid financially and return his attention to his passions.
