Urgent: We need to raise $8,000 immediately to secure our first community space and launch programs for youth and families.
My name is Aweys Ali, and I have watched families in my community struggle in silence.
I have seen a mother arrive in Louisville with no English, no connections, and no one to call for help. I have seen young men with no direction, searching for somewhere to belong. I have seen children who are bright and full of potential but have no safe place to go after school.
This is why I started Afrikana Community Center Inc.
I am a Somali-American community leader who has spent more than 10+ years serving African immigrant and refugee families in Louisville, Kentucky. I know this community. I know their struggles. And I know what becomes possible when people are given the right support.
We have already taken real steps.
Afrikana Community Center Inc. is now a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We have built partnerships with masjids, nonprofits, and community organizations throughout Louisville. We are actively working to establish a permanent home where African families can find support, opportunity, and belonging.
