Affordable Peninsula Housing

Please help the St Francis Center raise $22M to purchase a 48 unit building in Redwood City and turn it, in perpetuity, into low-income affordable housing.

Did your daughter just move out of State? Did your son’s favorite teacher just settle out of California? Did the principal let you know they can’t attract qualified candidates? Did it take a lot longer to check out at Target because there were no cashiers? Did your beloved nanny just let you know that she must move because rents are just too high?

You know and have experienced these and so many other scenarios! Very simply put, we need more low income and affordable housing!

The St Francis Center has an excellent opportunity to make a dent in the otherwise overwhelming housing crisis! Doing nothing is not our style. The St Francis Center needs YOUR help to purchase a 48 unit building in Redwood City and turn it into low-income affordable housing. The St Francis Center is doing what few others are...that is, little by little, we are purchasing multi-family apartments to “home” the many families otherwise left out in the cold! Our Peninsula needs affordable housing and frankly, for the health of our beautiful Peninsula, we need the families who will occupy them!

The St Francis Center, a nonprofit, with 32 years of service, action and leadership, has been and will continue to move forward the answer to this crisis – find and provide more affordable housing!

A 48-unit apartment building has just come on the market.  We need to purchase it before others do.  We will have to pay market value, which on our Peninsula is $455,000 per door.  we all know that is a crazy amount of money... we also know that together we can make it happen!  Seriously, together we can change the narrative and make sure that this time there is "room in the inn."

Others can throw up their hands with the enormity of solving this housing crisis, but that is not an option for us.  Please don't throw up your hands; please reach out your hands instead!  Will you help?
