The Felton Fire Protection District is excited to roll out its first major fundraiser of 2022. The department, which serves the community of Felton, CA, is seeking to raise $30,000 to purchase new automated external defibrillators (AED) and a LUCAS CPR device. These life-saving devices are used when a patient goes into cardiac arrest and requires CPR. The new devices will be a welcome update to Felton’s aging AED fleet and will be compatible with devices used by other emergency services in Felton. The LUCAS device is used in conjunction with AEDs. The LUCAS performs chest compressions, which frees up rescuers to perform other life-saving actions when a patient has lost their pulse.

Early defibrillation and high-quality CPR are the benchmarks for successful resuscitation in a cardiac arrest. Both of these devices will be a valuable addition to the department so it can better serve the community.
