Every day Alameda educators do the work of building, supporting, and maintaining community. But during this time our abilities to nourish our community has been diminished.
We recognize that some educators and families have been disproportionately impacted by the measures taken to address the pandemic.
As educators we feed the minds, bodies, and souls of our students - and we don't want to stop doing that now. For those educators in secure situations, we encourage you to pledge a portion of your stimulus check; to make a donation as a way of fulfilling your students’ emotional & physical needs needs, much as you would under typical circumstances.
In order to support our community Alameda Education Association has started a series of rolling donations. Every three weeks we are going to start a new fundraiser for a different organization in Alameda that is helping to support our students and families. The third and final organization in the series is: Alameda Food Bank (Alameda Emergency Food)
Alameda Emergency Food: Founded in 1977, the Alameda Food Bank is a non-profit organization that helps Alameda residents in need by providing nourishing food in a compassionate and respectful manner with the support of dedicated volunteers and local partners.
