Our community is at risk. The Jefferson-Chalmers WATER Project is a 501(c)(3) community-based, community-driven and community-supported initiative to find resilient solutions to the water resource and climate challenges in our community.
Surrounded by natural and enclosed waterways, creating sustainable solutions is tantamount to ensuring the survival of a beloved community - an affordable, diverse and vibrant place where people can live, work, play, recreate and find refuge.
The WATER Project helped
- secure $1 million to assist property owners with shoreline improvements;
- successfully raised nearly $60,000 to support its efforts over the last three years; and
- leveraged over $220,000 in in-kind contributions and resources.
Funds will be used to:
- Support the Open Canals Always Flotilla on June 13, 2026
- Print and distribute door-to-door 5,000 Grand Marais Gazette, quarterly; and
- Ensure The WATER Project has the technology and administrative resources necessary to propel it's important mission.
