On the 7th June I will be competing in the Bolton Ironman Triathlon 2026. The event consists of a 1.2 mile swim; 56 mile bike ride and 13.1 mile run.

I am doing this event to raise much needed funds for the fantastic Bolton based charity, The Destitution Project.

The Destitution Project provides a safe environment for asylum seekers and refugees where they can find friendship, food and practical help, as well as providing weekly drop-in casework support sessions. You can find out more information here https://www.boltondp.org/ at their website.

The picture above is of my son, Christian, and his best friend, Ethan Roberts. They met at school and have been friends ever since. Sadly, on 7th April, Ethan passed away suddenly from an undiagnosed medical condition. He was 22 years old.

Ethan was a remarkable young man, full of love, care and compassion. He volunteered at The Destitution Project at their Wednesday drop-in sessions along with his Granny and was a valued member of the team.

This has been a devastating time for all who knew and loved Ethan, especially for Ethan's family; who we stand with to provide support and comfort, for Christian and all his friends.

And so it is, with tears in my eyes, that I kindly ask if you would consider sponsoring me for the event. Your contribution will provide much needed support to vulnerable people in Bolton and also honour the memory of a caring and loving young man, bringing comfort to Ethan's family, Christian and the wider friendship group, and all who knew him.
