Adoption for Sophia Michelle
Donation protected
We were college sweethearts, then husband and wife, and in 2013 we welcomed our son Thomas into the world. We had always wanted a family, and when it finally happened, it was a gift words cannot describe. He made us more whole. He made us better people.
We tried for over 4 years to grow our family, and it was a struggle. After three rounds of fertility treatments and a miscarriage, we were blessed with a healthy pregnancy. Devastatingly, our second son, Edward Brian Cerniglia, passed away during labor this past Christmas.
A profound and seemingly insurmountable darkness enveloped us. If not for our son Thomas, we may have never left that dark place. We suspect we will never fully recover from losing Edward, but with the love of our son, our family, and our friends, we’ve been able to heal a little bit and look to the future.
Through prayer and soul searching we saw that through adoption, perhaps the love we had to offer was meant for a child who otherwise wouldn’t have such a blessing. After completing the paperwork, we were matched to our future daughter only 3 weeks later.
Sophia Michelle Cerniglia was born August 12th of 2019, and we were fortunate enough to be there to welcome her into the world. The path it took to meet her was longer and more difficult that we had imagined, but the miracle of holding her for the first time redeemed the journey. Our dream of growing our family had finally come true.
In addition to reasonable expenses like healthcare for the birth mother, the indifferent adoption laws impose burdensome costs on the adopting family through agency and lawyer fees, travel expenses, and court delays, all of which turned out to be much higher than we expected. Your donations will help offset the costs we incurred trying to bring a beautiful baby girl to the safe, loving home that we all wish every child could have.
Thank you sincerely for reading our story and considering helping us bring Sophia home to her family.
Love,
Nick, Amanda, Thomas, and Sophia Cerniglia
