Dear Family & Friends,

It has always been our desire to raise children.  However, for years we struggled with infertility.  The doctors never said having children was an impossibility for us, but did say getting pregnant would be difficult for us.  We followed the doctors’ suggestions but nothing worked.  As a result, for almost 2 years now we have been in the adoption process in one way or another.  Since the beginning we’ve always wanted to adopt, but considered foster care and other options along the way.

We eventually decided on a domestic infant adoption for several reasons.  The most important reason being that this is the way God has led us.  Another reason is that we feel we are best equipped at this point in our lives to parent a child from infancy.

The application, training, and home study process lasted around 10 months for us.  Our approval by the agency (Bethany Christian Services, www.bethany.org) will be finalized this month (May 2017).

Once our home study is formally approved (which should be within a couple weeks, agency just has to finish some paper work as a formality) we will begin to wait to be chosen by a birth mother (and possibly the birth father) to raise a child.  This is an exciting time because we literally could get a phone call as early as a month from now that we have been picked or that our child is at the hospital waiting to be picked up.  It is also an anxious time for us as it could also be months or even years before we get the call (average wait time at our agency is around 18 months right now).  While we wait our lives will continue on as normal in regards to our jobs, family and friends, but there is one major task we must add to our lives as we wait: Fundraising.

While we wait we are trusting the Lord to provide for this adoption through fundraising and donations.  Of the $26,000 in total adoption fees we have already been blessed with $15,000 (savings plus donations)!  However, we still have $11,000 to go.  We are already brainstorming on some great fundraising ideas and plan to apply to adoption grants.
