Adopting Livia! Help us bring our daughter home!
Donation protected

Hello! We are the Romero Family – Omar and Trisha! We met in 2008 and got married in 2012. We live in the Midwest with our 3 biological sons – Mateo (6), Luca (4) and Cruz (1). During Cruz’s pregnancy, we did a blood test to find out his gender but ended up finding out a lot more. We found out that he was very likely to have Down syndrome. The news was very tough and quite devastating initially since we didn’t know anything about Down syndrome and what that would mean for our son. We allowed ourselves to cry and mourn the loss of the child we had thought we were having, and then we wiped away our tears and committed to be the best parents that we could be to our son. We spent the rest of the pregnancy learning about Down syndrome, making connections with other families that had children with Down syndrome and preparing for his arrival. The moment that Cruz was born was unforgettable. We knew he was exactly what we needed the whole time, and our whole family cherishes him very much.
After having Cruz, we learned that many children like him end up without a family just because they have Down syndrome. We began discussing the idea of international adoption and looking at some of the children that were waiting; we just knew that someday when the time was right that we would bring one of those children home and give them a family, a home and most importantly LOVE!
In mid-November, we came across a beautiful baby girl in Eastern Europe and without hesitation we knew she was meant for us. We are thrilled to be on this journey to bring home a daughter that will be loved and cherished by all!
The estimated cost for this adoption is $32,000 including 3 required trips. We have already paid upfront fees with our savings and committed to her with an in country facilitation team but the particular country that she is in doesn’t allow us to "hold" her or be officially matched with her until we are in the country on the first trip. We are trying to move through all of the steps as quickly as we can to get her home with access to quality healthcare, therapies and our wild but loving family! The total adoption process for her country is about 8-12 months so we hope to bring her home sometime this summer.
Would you please consider donating to help us get her home? Sharing and prayers are also very much appreciated. We will be so grateful for all!
Thank you!
