he is 7 now and we are still pushing forward.
“5-year-old Matvey from war-torn Ukraine learned how to quickly move to the safest spot in the house when air raid sirens went off in the middle of the night.
Soon, he learned to sleep through them. Matvey’s first childhood memories will be of this terrible war. But this war was not the only challenge Matvey was about to face.
In December of 2022, Matvey’s young single mother was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of cancer: Ewing Sarcoma.
As she battles her own war, it has become clear that any outcome does not bode well for Marvey’s future.
Matvey is my cousin’s grandson.
Since he doesn’t have anyone fit to care for him, we have started the adoption process, and will be bringing Matvey into our loving family here in Los Angeles.
We had no idea how complex and expensive this process is. The average cost of International adoption is now north of 40k. Making this further difficult is Ukraine being under wartime law, which only increases the financial burden of this process.
After extensive research, we finally found a suitable US Govt. accredited and authorized Adoption Agency, and a trusted Ukrainian Attorney. The amount of paperwork, inter-agency coordination, fees, bureaucratic delays, and expenses is overwhelming.
While our loving family is capable of providing a quality life for Matvey, we are asking for your help in overcoming the bureaucratic cost of adoption.
