Adoptee Family Reunion

Hi, I’m Hannah and I am an adoptee born China during the 90's, in the midst of the one child policy, living in the UK. After searching for my birth family for a lifetime with little to no information about my past to go by and many closed doors, I finally received the news in June 2024 that my entire birth family had been located via a DNA match. I am now in full contact with my birth parents and 3 siblings which as you can imagine is completely mind blowing, exciting and highly emotional.

The family are still located in China and have not moved from where I was born. I have also since found out that I was taken from the family at only 40 days old without their consent, rather than being given up by my birth parents and they have not stopped searching for me since.

I would love nothing more than to travel back to China with my parents to embark on this new chapter of my life, together. I have created this fundraiser to try and make this reunion possible and any help will be greatly appreciated.

As you can appreciate, return flights to and from China, accommodation, Visa costs, translator costs, and everything else involved can become costly. In the future we would also love to host the family in the UK and help towards any costs they may have. I would also like to donate an amount to the non profit organisation "Nanchang Project" who helped make this all possible.

Nanchang Project was founded in February 2018 by two adoptive moms with children from Nanchang, Jiangxi, China. After unsuccessful professional searches for their children’s birth families, they took matters into their own hands.

Today, Nanchang Project’s leadership and volunteer teams have both grown in size with members based all over the world. They are focused on reconnecting international adoptees with their roots and birth families in China. Nanchang Project has provided free DNA tests to over 350 biological families who are searching for their children, and, to date, has made 55 matches between searching Chinese families and children who were adopted abroad.
