Dear Montclair Community,
Would you consider helping our 2023 Montclair High School seniors with some upfront college expenses this fall?
Due to the overwhelming success and generosity of the community we are continuing the "The Adopt-A-Mountie" college dorm package program this year.
These last four years attending high school during COVID have been stressful and lacked a normal school experience. And as you know, preparing for college can be stressful in general and certainly financially.
Once the family goes through the college application process and acceptance letters, they now have to navigate the logicists of sending their child off to school. The average out of pocket college expense can average as much as $1,600 per child.
Many families have exhausted their finances with end-of-year high school expenses and additional college including tuition which leaves little or no resources to help their child(ren) with the basic necessities needed to outfit their dorm room, such as,
fundamental items, like sheets, towels and bedding.
It takes a village to raise a Mountie! We need to show our young people that they matter, that their commitments to higher education matters and that when they do the work, the village will have their backs.
High School seniors will have the chance to complete the application process and turn it in by a specified time in order to be eligible for a Dorm Kit. Past dorm kits have included USB lamps, bedding, toiletries and towels just to name a few.
