Adeline's Special Care Needs

Donation protected
Let me start with this. I never could've imagined giving in like this and asking for help, because anyone who knows me, knows how stubborn I am. But, for my baby-girl, I have decided to ask for the much needed and appreciated help.

On August 6th, 2018, our precious girl was born via Emergency C-Section at only 23 weeks and 5 days of gestation. To put that into perspective, she was born 17 weeks too early. Weighing only 1 lb and 2 oz's at birth, our princess immediately had to begin the beyond difficult fight for her life.

*From week one up until now at almost 4 months old, Adeline has dealt with-

Grade 3/4 Brain Bleeds(IVH), Chronic Lung Disease, PDA+Pulmonary Hypertension(heart complication), Retinopathy of Prematurity, Respiratory Disrease Syndrome, Post-Hemmoragic Hydrocephalus, Ventriculomegaly, PVL-Perventricular Leukomalacia(Brain Damage), and quite a few more.

In October, Adeline had a brain surgery that was to give her a chance at never needing a Shunt and helping her hydrocephalus until the blood clots were reabsorbed so that her Ventricles could properly pump Cerebral Spinal Fluid out of them. Unfortunately,  we found out immediately after the surgery that she had far too much scar tissue in the ventricles for this surgery to have had a good chance.

Now, just a couple of months later, Adeline needs another Brain Surgery. She will need a VP Shunt. Next Monday (December 10th), Adeline will be transported to CHOA to receive this procedure.

Now,  the reason behind this fundraiser:
We have been very blessed with Adeline's insurance covering these very costly medical bills, but the financial trouble goes much deeper than just insurance coverage. I (Adeline's Mother) haven't been able to go back to work due to uncertainty with her medical stability, healing the first 2 months after a very rough Classical Emergency C-Section and infection, getting sick often from my immune system being suppressed(I have 4 autoimmune diseases), Anxiety due to the Trauma Experienced daily in NICU and many more reasons. Soon after Adeline's Surgery, so long as she does well, she could be coming home at any time. Daily, sometimes multi-daily trips to her hospital now and to Atlanta when she has her surgery is costly. Not only that, but she will require very special care round the clock, and would take lots of training to be able to have others help care for her besides myself. Luckily, my Family is supporting us in every way they can and I have a great household situation, but because of the costs of medical bills from when I was in the hospital and things that didn't get covered for Adeline, I am left pretty strapped financially.

Once she comes home, she could have up to 3 different Appointments weekly, may be on a feeding tube and oxygen and will need special equipment to make caring for her a lot easier to manage. I will not be able to go back to work for quite some time, considering the risks of me getting sick/getting her sick and sending her into Respiratory Distress, and will have to keep her "Bubbled up" especially during Winter/Cold+Flu season.

Any donation would be greatly appreciated, considering it would greatly change our(Mine and Adeline's) lives being able to not worry as much financially. I just want the best for our warrior. No one could've prepared me for this. It was very sudden and is still very scary and stressful. Everyday, watching this precious girl give it her all is very inspiring, but everyday we live in fear for what may be right around the corner.

Every donation will go strictly towards Special Care Equipment(Special gel baby pillows for her head, special bassinet pads, more costly diapers and wipes considering her sensitivities, gas for transportation to and from her hospital, equipment like a health monitoring system, good quality baby monitoring system, special swings and chairs since her trachea is weak, and so much more)

I (obviously) dont have much to offer to anyone who donates, but I can tell you it would mean the absolute world to me and I would be sure to thank you all properly.

Thank you in advance, Merry Christmas and God bless.

-Caitlin Brown, micro preemie mom.
