Skye Gina Ratcliffe Pilato died of an overdose in the very early morning of September 30, 2014.

I hope to be able to use my experiences as a parent and as a parent living with grief to help those in need of positive engagements. I hope that by engaging, lovingly and compassionately, and building the connections to help youth from feeling isolated, they will seek help, speak out and express themselves knowing that their life has meaning and, that by them just living, is good enough.

Skye’s the Limit! Foundation, founded on January 14, 2019, is a 501c3 Public Charity recognizing the need for compassion and connection to combat the social isolation that can lead to substance abuse and suicide. We are reminded through her spirit to reach for the good, the best, in us all and to care for and love others with compassion.

Please join me in "Spreading our Wings and Flying" because "Skye's the Limit!"

Why do we need your help?
We are seeking to raise funds to support hiring staff, a long-term Studio+Training Space, and support for our annual operations costs such as insurance, CFO and bookkeeping, and grant writing and management services. Looking forward, we are seeking to expand our service area through a mobile resource unit providing mental health, substance abuse prevention and narcan training services in rural areas throughout the United States.

Thanks to the continued generous support of various grants, partner agencies; and kind donors like you, in 2022, Skye's the Limit! Foundation has nearly doubled its impact in one year reaching just over 2000 vulnerable individuals. We have increased our reach by almost five times since our beginning stages in 2019! Your support will help impact even more youth and families. Will you kindly help us to continue building our reach to vulnerable youth and families?

Skye's the Limit Foundation's Resilient Youth & Trauma-Informed Community Program is a culturally competent, trauma-informed, substance abuse prevention program utilizing the arts and the outdoors as pathways to healing, connecting and building resilience. We have reached and impacted almost 5000 individuals through our partnerships and various trauma-informed engagement and training platforms since 2019.

With your help, we can continue to grow our programs and establish a permanent site where youth and adults are welcome to gather, create, learn and thrive. We can establish an environment of hope and healing. We are seeking one-time donations, matches and recurring pledges to help us with our Dream of building a center filled with love for at-risk, vulnerable youth and young adults, a mental health resource hub and a project-based, intern incubator program for trauma and prevention support specialists. We are seeking a space for creating and nurturing connections. In addition we understand the need for crucial resources in rural areas of America and are seeking to provide mobile services for those areas in need of narcan training and mental health and substance abuse education.

There is no comparison in dollars to saving lives. Providing hope and light to those in need is invaluable. In Skye's honor and name and in the names of all of those who have died of overdose and suicide, it is our life-long mission to implement programming that will save lives, build connections and cultivate an environment full of opportunities, love and hope. We are committed to doubling our impact each year. Sustaining our programs, sustains our communities. This is important to us and we need your help. Here is how your support will impact vulnerable youth and families:

  • An Angel investor will help us continue to save lives and bring attention to the impact of opioid overdose, trauma, and mental health through our Studio+Training Space, Mobile Resource Unit and Staffing
  • An investment of $500 will provide the crucial funds needed for the day-to-day operations.
  • An investment of $150 will provide a peer support instructor and a prevention specialist for one workshop, impacting 12 youth and will broaden our capacity to save lives.
  • An investment of $50.00 will help provide supplies to conduct our free and accessible art and wilderness therapy programming for one workshop, impacting 12 students.
  • An investment of $25.00 will help us provide one art, mental health and prevention resource bag for each person participating in our program. (1250 annually)

Please consider a three-year pledge or a match on our donations and/or grants. Your match would more than double our fundraising efforts to continue providing meaningful engagements, building community, and creating connections as primary prevention measures to overdose and suicide through our Resilient Youth & Trauma-Informed Community Program.

More information about Skye's the Limit Foundation, INC:

SKYE'S THE LIMIT FOUNDATION is a 501c3 Public Charity RECOGNIZING THE NEED FOR COMPASSION AND CONNECTION TO COMBAT THE SOCIAL ISOLATION THAT CAN LEAD TO SUBSTANCE ABUSE AND SUICIDE.

OUR VISION FOR SKYE'S THE LIMIT! FOUNDATION IS BUILDING A RESILIENT WORLD WHERE WE ALL THRIVE TOGETHER.

OUR MISSION is to prevent trauma-related losses by substance overdose and suicide by building resiliency and empowering youth, families, and communities through peer support, art, and wilderness therapy.

Skye's the Limit Foundation was created in light of the trauma-related overdose of our founder’s 19-year-old daughter, Skye Gina Ratcliffe Pilato, who, after two suicide attempts, resorted to drugs to numb the pain she was feeling in isolation. In her honor and recognizing that disconnection often drives addiction, Skye’s the Limit provides no-cost community education on trauma, harm reduction, relational health, and self-care and works to provide safe environments for youth who have experienced childhood trauma to speak out, express themselves, and ask for help.

Our mission is to prevent trauma-related losses by substance overdose and suicide by building resiliency and empowering youth, families, and communities. We recognize the need for compassion and connection to combat the social isolation and loneliness that can lead to substance abuse and suicide. Therefore, Skye's the Limit Foundation intentionally strengthens peer-to-peer, parent-and-child, and youth leader-to-youth relationships through engaging activities such as therapeutic arts programming and wilderness therapy designed to help youth thrive. While all are welcome, most of those served come from low-income households and nearly all the youth we serve have experienced multiple stressful and traumatic events, known as adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), which lead to higher rates of substance abuse and suicide. Reflecting the connection so crucial to the youth we serve, Skye’s the Limit actively partners with other organizations to build community capacity to support at-risk youth and promote the development of healthy communication and choices, supported by connections with peers and trusted adults.
