(Updates can be found at the bottom)
With unexpected major home repairs, an incredibly difficult pregnancy, and a Dad who had a hospital stay himself, plus two months of recovery time—Keeping everything afloat has not been easy, to say the least.
Less than 2lbs Baby Theodore was unexpectedly born on November 24th. His due date wasn’t until January 21st. Due to unknown health concerns, that we’ve been trying to get answers to for many months, he was also a month behind in growth. We are working closely with specialist galore in Traverse City and down at U of M in Ann Arbor to make sure he’s getting all the necessary answers, care, and assistance. It would mean the world to us if you would keep him in your prayers throughout this journey.
He is the most precious little person you’ve ever seen. It’s unbelievable how small, stubborn, and strong he is. God has MAJORLY blessed me by making me his Momma. I am beyond overjoyed to have him here and will do everything possible to ensure that he has the brightest future. Hence I’m pushing aside my pride to admit that, we need help.
Theodores health is already demanding more days of missed work ahead. We will be staying at Munsons Hospitality House, until his original due date. Your help will ensure my ability to be with him every step of the way as we learn more about his health. Over the next few months, additional support will be most essential.
Thank you to everyone that has reached out with Congratulations! Also thank you to everyone who is eager to meet precious Theo. We have to wait until he’s big and strong before he has more visitors though. I promise the ladies in the NICU are showering him with love! His little coos are tugging at everyone’s heartstrings down there!
(When I was holding him last night his little heart rate dropped and he struggled to get enough oxygen for a moment. The alarms went off and the nurse nervously called for help. The oxygen tube had popped out and thankfully he maintained well on his own but that didn’t explain his heart. —This was my moment of, “Okay I give up. I need to get more help so I can be with him.” Hopefully this morning we’ll have answers from his echocardiogram. I will give updates on his health as I’m able.)
UPDATE: I am forever grateful to Doctor Allred at Munson Hospital for noticing Theo’s eyes didn’t look right. She had an eye doctor check on him first thing this morning. Doing so has bought us time; time to hopefully save his eyesight. Theodore has Congenital Glaucoma. It's extremely rare condition and often not noticed this early. The eye doctor said his eyes should be squishy and right now they’re comparable to little ping pong balls. He needs a specialized team and U of M is the only hospital in Michigan equipped to handle Theo’s condition. Instead of us staying in Munsons Hospitality House to be near him, I’m making arrangements to be in Ann Arbor. As of now, he's fully blind. PLEASE KEEP HIM IN YOUR PRAYERS
UPDATE: Between God and Dads safe driving, we’ve made it to Ann Arbor. Last thing I remember, I had intentions of staying awake to be a good copilot for Oscar. The next thing I knew, he was pulling into the motel. I finally got a little needed rest and we just got the call that Theo is all tucked away on his flight to Ann Arbor. The lady who called assured me that he’s one of her more stable passengers and she feels that he will arrive safely around 12:30am. We’re going to pump for Theo and try sleeping a tad.
