Addison's Helmet Fund

My beautiful Granddaughter was born on August 18, 2018 along with her twin sister. Almost immediately we noticed that something wasn't right with the shape of her head. We also noticed that she would only move her head to one side. After seeking medical advice we were told that she had torticolus and that she would need intensive physical therapy and the possibility of a helmet to correct her condition. My daughter sought the best therapist she could afford and worked with Addie to get those muscles working in case we needed the helmet. Even with having twins she did double and triple the therapy at home with Addie and her therapist was very impressed.My Son in Law and Daughter have already had to spend her pregnancy and the first 7 months of the girls lives living apart due to better medical treatment being closer to our home than he had available on or near his base. We worked and we prayed that all would come together so that Addie Kay could get her helmet and have a chance to not be deformed for the rest of her life. And then the denial letter came. My Son a US Marine who is serving our country was told the insurance would not cover the much needed medical equipment that his Daughter so desperately needs. Our Family is both saddened and disgusted at this because their Father fights for all of every day and cannot fix his Daughter's medical condition in spite of all he has done. My Daughter and her Husband have exhausted all of their savings in order to get the ball rolling on the helmet being made but this may not be the end of the journey. There is a possibility as she grows they will need another helmet but that is unknown at this time. I raised my Daughter to believe that nothing is impossible and I want my Granddaughters to believe the same. It makes me ashamed to be an American knowing that our Military can't even provide for their Families. I am asking everyone to get the word out there because I am sure that we aren't the first family that has been effected by the Humana Military Insurance Company. If you have family or friends who have ask them to reach out to me as I'm complying stories to share with those in the Government who may be able to make changes.
