Addie and Winston

For the past 7+ months friends, family and acquaintances who knew something happened to our grandson Winston have asked to help, but due to criminal court proceedings we could not discuss what happened to him. Recently, Winston's father pleaded guilty to child abuse and will be sentenced in January. We created this Gofundme site so that family and friends who wanted to help Addie and Winston could do so.

 

This fundraiser is not about his father. Please do not leave any notes or comments disparaging him, but PLEASE leave words of encouragement and well wishes for Addie and Winston. I promise you that they will be received with great appreciation.

 

Winston Stulp was born on January 20,2021 and was a healthy baby for two months. On March 22, 2021 all that changed. Our daughter Adelyn, an RN at St Mary's Hospital, had just returned to work after a 2 month maternity leave. While under his dad's care, Winston was severely shaken. When Addie returned from her 12 hour shift she checked on Winston and knew something was wrong. Immediately they went to the Helen Devos Children's Hospital-ICU. Winston was diagnosed with non accidental head trauma: brain, retinal and spinal hemorrhages; several strokes, and vision impairment/blind. Winston has had multiple surgeries, put on a feeding tube, and prescribed 3 different medications to stop seizures caused by the brain damage. Winston is very sick, has 6 doctors: Neurologist, Neurosurgeon, Neurodevelopmentalist, Ophthalmology, Endocrine and Primary Care. In the past 7 months, Winston has had 149 appointments and 3 emergency room visits. He will always be a special needs child and his future remains uncertain. So far, he has EXCEEDED the doctor's expectations.

 

With so many appointments, surgeries and physical therapy Addie had to start working part time which is putting a strain on her single parent income. Recently, in one week her car needed to be repaired ($350.00) and her clothes washer went up in smoke (replaced $850.00).

 

The goal for the campaign is set at $35,000.00, but we (Adelyn and Winston's family) would like to try to pay off the loan for her frequently failing vehicle and pay down the home mortgage. Paying down the mortgage and refinancing will free up money in her tight budget. We will leave the campaign open until 12/31/21 or if the unthinkable happens, we raise enough to pay off her mortgage (about 100K).
