To celebrate what would have been Duncan Edwards’ 90th birthday, I’m taking on one of my biggest challenges yet – 4 marathons in 4 days, from Manchester to Dudley.
I’ll be starting at Old Trafford, at the Munich Tunnel and the tribute to Duncan Edwards, before beginning the journey back home to the Black Country.
Four marathons and four days later, I’ll finish at the Duncan Edwards statue in Dudley town centre.
This challenge is about much more than the miles. It’s about local pride, community, men’s mental health and supporting our young people.
Duncan Edwards remains one of Dudley and the Black Country’s greatest sons. I wanted this challenge to celebrate his legacy while also doing something positive for the community he came from.
I’m aiming to raise £1,000 for HEADZ UP 1980 CIC, a Dudley-based Community Interest Company supporting men’s mental health and positive opportunities for young people.
The funds raised will support the work of Headz Up, alongside community partners including Strike Youth and the new Forge Youth Hub, helping to create opportunities and spaces where people can connect, get active, talk and feel part of their community.
Men’s mental health is particularly important to me. Having experienced burnout and poor mental health myself, I know how important it is to have people around you, somewhere to turn and a community that looks out for one another
That’s why I’m putting the miles in – 4 marathons, in 4 days, from Manchester back home to Dudley.
Every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a difference. And if you can’t donate, please share the page and help us spread the word.
Thank you for supporting me and our Black Country community.
