Support Ada Lovelace Day and women in STEM!
It's really great that Ada Lovelace Day continues to be an important day for many people, and that I'm still getting invitations based on my work supporting women in STEM, but without funding I'm very limited in what I can do.
I’ve had an invitation from Stan Rooney to attend the unveiling of the Ada Lovelace statue in Hinckley, which I’d love to go to.
I’ve also been invited to another launch event, this time for the Environmental Artivism Network at the York Environmental Sustainability Institute, University of York. You might remember I took part in their workshop last summer to share my experience of working on my eco-comedy, Fieldwork about women in ecology.
Unfortunately, Ada Lovelace Day remains unfunded and I’ve not had a great year since ALD closed — both the economy and the tech industry’s attitudes towards supporting women in STEM have deteriorated badly over the last two years. That’s made it very challenging to find either work or employment.
This means I can’t go to either of these events and can't continue to keep ALD ticking over, explore its future, nor work on Fieldwork without your help.
I do hate to ask, but if you can send a little loose change my way, then that would enable me to head up to Hinckley at the end of the month and York in February. And any extra will allow me to continue to improve the website, keep writing these newsletters, and progress Fieldwork to the next stage.
