Activist Family Needs Support for Housing Move

Mel Andrade Williams - mother, activist and friend - lives every breath of her life in service of others. Today she needs our help to secure affordable and safe housing for her amazing family. Its time we give back to help her and her family in their time of need.

The Williams family is made up Mel, her husband, and their four amazing children (pictured here) ages 3,4,5 and 9. Like many working families in Florida the Williams face high rental prices in a post-COVID economy. Mel was out of work for over a year (to deal with her children being out of school) and her husband's small Black-owned business suffered losses due to pandemic recession forcing them to live on a reduced income and use their savings to pay daily bills.

In mid-May of this year, the Williiams received notice that they had to leave their already overpriced apartment in 30 days or sign a long term lease for an even higher price they cannot afford. They need our help to get the first and last month rent so they can move.

We talk a lot of game about showing up for our community, giving to support our directly impacted Black activists, and helping others who suffer at the hands of exploitation and greed.
