Hi friends,
I’m reaching out to you today with an urgent request to support someone I love deeply—my American best friend and longtime fellow Animal Rights activist, Malaina.
For the past couple of years, Malaina poured her heart and soul into working for a very well known Animal Rights Movement campaign. She didn’t just do her job—she lived it. Educating, organizing, and giving a voice to the voiceless every single day. It was her only source of income, and she gave it everything she had, often going far beyond what was asked of her. She even received a raise just weeks ago—finally, a sign that things were going well.
Encouraged by this progress, she and her partner—who is facing serious health issues and currently unable to work—made a tough but hopeful decision. They sold their camper and secured a short-term Airbnb rental near the campaign site, planning to purchase a smaller, more manageable van and build a stable new start.
But their lives were turned upside down.
Shortly after relocating, Malaina was unexpectedly let go from her job. No clear explanation. Just vague statements about “not aligning with a love-based approach,” despite her years of committed service to this very cause. The truth is, she was let go for continuing to do what she loves most: speak up for animals.
Now, the income they were counting on is gone. The money they saved to buy a van is being used to survive. And their Airbnb stay is coming to an end—fast.
Malaina has been applying for jobs non-stop, in and outside of the movement. But even if she’s hired tomorrow, it will take time to get that first paycheck. Right now, she needs a lifeline to make it through this month—to keep a roof over their heads, put food on the table, and maintain access to healthcare.
I'm creating this fundraiser to help her:
Complete the final month of their Airbnb rental so they don’t risk damaging their rental history
Cover basic living expenses like food, gas, and medical-related travel
Bridge the gap until she finds work and her partner's disability application is processed
This is not about extras or luxuries. This is about staying afloat during an unexpected crisis that neither of them deserved.
Malaina has always shown up for others. She’s been there for the animals, for her community, and for me more times than I can count. Now I’m asking our community to show up for her.
If you’re able to donate—any amount—or share this fundraiser, it would mean the world.
Thank you for reading and for supporting someone who has given everything to this movement.
With love and solidarity,
