Scroll down for Danialle’s story
Danialle James has been at the forefront of Portland’s social justice activism for some time now. Sometimes she’s in a leading role, sometimes supporting, but she always shows up, helps and shows solidarity. She has been fearless. She has been arrested, jailed, and put on trial fighting for others.
Now she needs the support of her community.
You may know some of the challenges she is currently facing, but perhaps not all.
First and foremost she is the devoted single mother of two teenage girls, one of whom battles serious health issues, juvenile polyposis and hypo plastic left heart syndrome.
Danialle was recently on disability and unable to work full time to earn a decent living. When her situation improved, her benefits were abruptly cut off. She is currently getting by on $218 a month. For three people.
Her rent is now now several months behind, so she’s experiencing the additional stress of eviction.
Yesterday Danialle said, “Really just hard times. I’m a little timid asking for help when there’s others worse off than me. I need to work soon but it’s hard to work and focus on trying to keep my place and keep bills paid.”
Danialle needs the support of her community now. Please give what you can. Even a little helps. If you absolutely cannot pitch in to support Danialle at this time, please pass this along to those who can and share far and wide in your networks.
Thank you.
