Shawn and Abbie Roque, an Active-Duty U.S. Army family stationed in Korea are in desperate need of our help. For the past three years, Shawn and Abbie have endured an exhaustive and expensive custody fight for his daughter to remove her from an abusive home. Last year in the middle of this fight and just before their return to a new duty station in North Carolina, Shawn's daughter went for court ordered visitation with her mother in Italy who subsequently refused to return her. These actions set off a chain of events that has catapulted the Roque family to near bankruptcy.

Using the military justice system as a weapon, Shawn's ex-wife used the US Army against Shawn by making false statements and claims knowing that it would put a hold on their PCS and financially devastate them as they had bought a new home in NC one month before their PCS. With their PCS on hold, all their home goods having been shipped, Shawn and Abbie have been making mortgage payments for a year on an empty home while living on blow-up furniture still in Korea.

After CID finally dismissed the unfounded claims, Shawn and Abbie had to continue to fight the State of Texas's family court systems trying to get their daughter back. Finally, two weeks ago after multiple hearings and an arrest warrant issued for kidnapping against the child’s mother, Shawn's daughter was surrendered to the custody of Shawn's mom in Texas to remain safe until Shawn and Abbie can return finally to the U.S and finalize a new custody agreement.

Now Shawn and Abbie have another battle, lawyers. To reunite and protect their family, the Roque's have amassed a legal bill of over $200,000. Because of Shawn's military security clearances, bankruptcy would cause him to lose those clearances and their entire livelihood. Lawyers are now asking them to sell whatever they need to, including their home if necessary to start to pay for these legal bills.
