The Comcáac is one of the Seven Original Nations in the state of Sonora, Mexico. Though they are traditionally nomadic, there is a settled community, Socaaix (Punta Chueca), outside of Hermosillo. People face water shortages and lack of fresh produce on a daily basis.
Los Comcáac es una de las 7 tribus originarias del estado de Sonora, México. Aunque históricamente nómadas, ahora viven en asentamientos, Socaaix (Punta Chueca), en las afueras de Hermosillo. A diario los habitantes sufren de escasez de agua y falta de acceso a vegetales frescos.
Community partners, Color Tierra and the Center of Collaboration for Science and Culture, of Sonora, Mexico are uniting efforts to eradicate present problems, and develop sustainable systems, in order to improve the quality of life in Socaaix.
Color Tierra y el Centro de Colaboración por la Ciencia y la Cultura, de Sonora, México están uniendo esfuerzos para desarrollar sistemas sustentables con el fin de mejorar las condiciones de vida en la comunidad.
We are raising funds to finance the construction and installation of roof rainwater harvesting systems and a Warka Tower: an active water harvesting system which condensates water from the atmosphere.
Estamos pidiendo su apoyo para financiar la instalación de un sistema de captación de agua de lluvia activo y una torre warka: Que es un sistema que colecta agua de la atmosfera.
Our purpose is to transfer technology and knowledge to the Comcáac community, provide the necessary follow-up for its appropriation, and obtain the necessary data to replicate and improve upon this technology for use in other communities.
Nuestro propósito es transferir esta tecnología y conocimiento a la comunidad Comcaác, proveer el apoyo necesario para su apropiación y obtener la información necesaria para mejorar y replicar esta tecnología en otras comunidades.
Our project, Participative Permacultural Design with the Socaaix Organic Garden Community, will begin with a series of workshops to facilitate the implementation of these systems with the residents of Socaaix. Those workshops will include:

Introduction to ethics, principles and Permaculture practices. Collective creation of site design.

2. The Living Soil: How To Keep Healthy Gardens
Techniques to improve the soil to maintain a healthy garden.

Técnicas para mejorar la calidad del suelo.
3. Rainwater Harvesting and Irrigation Systems
Water efficiency practices through irrigation techniques and rainwater harvesting.

Color Tierra is a civil association which helps the community to flourish through the practice of Permaculture. We take care of the people and the Earth, and what we obtain from our work, we distribute with equity. Since 2012 our actions have been aimed to share information, cultivate awareness, and to provide Sustainability tools and techniques through Permaculture Design.
Cenko (Center of Collaboration for Science and Culture, Civil Society) has the objective to design and implement integral projects which have a positive impact in the social and environmental well being.
