*the donation will contribute to a break to Donegal for the group.  Many of the group, haven't be able to go on holiday for  various reasons, money, health, anxiety, loneliness to name a few reasons.  This will cover the costs of the rental house (sleeps 18), 2 mini buses, ferry costs, costs of new passports/documentation  required to travel and food and drink, whilst in Ireland

Food Fact Friends Foodbank
voluntary non-profit community group, have seen a huge rise in the request for help, now serving over 3000 meals to midlothian, as many make the heartbreaking decision to HEAT or EAT.
*These funds will be used to provide a new parent trauma group with Children 1st, allowing a worker to be supplied. Arrange cooking classes, to be able to show those receiving  the foods, how best to utilise the foods given, to produce a healthy hearty meal for themselves.

Children 1st
Scotland’s national children’s charity. Some children have little to smile about: we’re determined to give them reasons to. We help Scotland’s families with practical advice and with support in difficult times. When the worst happens, we support children to recover from trauma. And we run an national helpline for parents that’s free to call 7 days a week: Parentline on 08000 28 22 33

For now, the donation from ACSOM is set as ‘unrestricted’. This means that Children 1st can spend it wherever the need is greatest in our services at the time when the money is received.
At the moment, Parentline and our Money Advice Service are in very high demand so it is likely that your donation would go towards these.
Children 1st Parentline is a free national helpline and online advice service, open all year, 7 days a week for parents, carers, and any adult who is worried about a child. Trained staff and volunteers provide a confidential, non-judgemental ear and can refer people on for longer-term support. This year we have seen a huge increase in calls and web visits to Parentline. We expect this high demand to continue into 2021.
Our Money Advice Service supports families across Scotland who are facing money worries. Families can be referred through Parentline or by our local Children and Family Workers. It’s not simply ‘advice’ given across the phone: our team is able to do things like negotiate directly with creditors, help with applying for benefits, or accompany a parent to a bank appointment that they are anxious about. Since March this year, referrals to the Money Advice Service have increased by 158%. Between March and October, we managed to put a total of £724,392 back into the pockets of over 300 families via debt management, money guidance, and support to access welfare. We know that this service will be needed more than ever in 2021 as mortgage holidays and furlough schemes end, and families may face more job losses. The Money Advice team are currently quite stretched, so we plan to expand this service further to cope with the increase in demand.
Your donation might also be used to support our local Children and Family Service teams – like the one Margaretrose works for in Midlothian, who work alongside local families directly.
Beyond the immediate ‘emergency’ Christmas requests from these teams I am not sure where the need is greatest for 2021, but I would be happy to find this out for you.
