Given your strong support, we are only $250 away from placing another order of 4000 surgical masks.
Please continue to support us! The campaign will continue until midnight on Sunday, April 19.
Although we are some distance from purchasing 12,000 surgical masks in this stage 2 campaign, we have ordered 4150 additional surgical masks (expecting to arrive next week) to donate. We also purchased 500 face masks from American Sewing Corp. in Sylva and have distributed them to Ingles, Food Lion, Sav-Mor, Harold's, Mountain Projects, and Jackson County Dept. on Aging.

Stage 1 Campaign Results
We are so touched by an outpouring of generosity from across our communities! In just ONE day, $3,543 was raised to cover the Stage 1 order for 6000 masks.

How We Got Started
After hearing the cry for help for PPEs during the COVID-19 pandemic from some local clinics, members of the American Chinese Friendship Society of Western North Carolina found a supplier of FDA approved surgical masks in China and placed an order for 6000 masks on March 26. To avoid delay, they paid the $3,542.86 cost up front, then set up a GoFundMe page to raise funds while the order was in transit. The shipment was processed and arrived in Cullowhee on April 1.
We decided to focus on small medical clinics, assisted living facilities, and community organizations that are in need but have limited resources to purchase PPEs. Medical personnel need this basic protection when they are shielding us from harm! The Western Carolina Medical Society and local doctors helped identify recipients and quantities of masks needed by each.
The relief effort expanded as word spread. The WCU Center for Community Engagement and Service Learning (CCSEL) is working with us and a local sewing facility that can produce masks to continue supporting our community needs.
