Accountability Begins With Arewa

Greetings Family & Friends! It's Arewa Karen and I'm running for District Council.

I have been on the frontline for police reform & accountability since my 16 year old great nephew, Pierre Loury was shot and killed by Chicago Police. Although the City of Chicago settled with my niece, it was no settlement of justice. In 2017 I became a Campbell Plaintiff, the first group of individuals, community orgs and Civil Rights Attorneys to sue the City/CPD for a Consent Decree- Federal Oversight of CPD. Currently serving as a Chicago Consent Decree Coalition Member, I became the 1st ever co-chair of a Use of Force Working Group, and was nominated for the Interim Commission for the Community Commission for Public Safety and Accountability, Chicago's first civilian police oversight board.

Now I am campaigning to become a District Councilwoman for the 15th Police District and I need you! My team has started gathering signatures so that I can make the ballot for the 2023 election. It is a major undertaking, physically, mentally and financially. Your help will ensure that I have all that is required to run a successful campaign.

Your donations will be used for various things but mostly campaign promotional materials, support for volunteers and resources needed for speaking engagements and petition signing events.
