Hi, my name is Jeyakumar.

In April this year, my wife and I had the opportunity to visit a small Christian church in the village of Samuthirapuram, located in the Eastern Province of Sri Lanka. The church is supported by the Adikalam Educational Center, and during our visit, we saw firsthand the difficult living conditions faced by the children who attend there.

Our church congregation in the UK has been running a Sunday lunch program for these children, and we’ve been blessed to continue this support for the past couple of years. However, one of the most pressing issues these families face is the lack of basic sanitation — particularly the absence of toilets at their homes. This problem has a serious impact on the health and safety of the children, especially teenagers.

To help address this, I’ve started a small fundraising effort to build toilets for four families who lost their makeshift facilities during the tsunami. Each toilet costs just £500, as the families themselves are contributing unskilled labor to reduce costs. That brings the total to £2,000.

The good news? A generous friend has already committed to funding two toilets, so we only need to raise £1,000 more to complete the project.

The local church pastor in Sri Lanka, Pastor Seelan, is overseeing the construction and will ensure transparency throughout the process. I will personally share updates and documentation as the project progresses.
