COVID-19 crisis brought a deep financial problem to the people of Kenya. It caused the unemployment of families for one or both parents in the slums of Kibera in Kenya, who have no other source of income or savings to cover their basic needs.
GOAL: together to help 115 families. That equals approximately 520 people, from which around 220 are unemployed parents and around 300 children.
PROJECT: with this donation project, YOU can step into this situation and DONATE A BOX of supplies for €26/$28 to cover all basic needs and hygiene of a 5-member Kenyan family for THREE whole weeks. Your donation will cost you €1.1/$1.3 per day for 21 days and with that, you can help a mother, a father, and their 3 children to stand again on their feet. We selected families that are in the greatest need of your help. You can donate any amount you desire. It's totally up to you! We will arrange then everything so that EACH donation will go to a specific family or families (if the amount is for more boxes).
EACH BOX: 5kg of rice, 10kg of wheat flour, 10kg of maize flour, 3L of cooking oil, 3kg of beans and 3 bars of soap. The list was made in consultation with families to identify their major needs and it consists of the ingredients for their everyday Kenyan dishes. We also provide sufficient quantities of soap to make sure the families have a shield of protection against COVID-19.
TRANSPARENCY: we would like you to know that for every box: €24/$26 goes on food, €1/$1 goes to the charges of gofundme and €1/$1 is spend on administration costs (money transfer costs+a small payment to unemployed locals helping with all the charity tasks). You can also DONATE half-A SUPPLY BOX, or a part of a box, or simply any amount you desire. It's totally up to you! We will arrange then everything so that EACH donation will go to a specific family or families (if the amount is for more boxes).
As a gesture of gratitude, the family will send us a photo or video from their house with the supply box you offered them :)
PROCEDURE: from preparing the box until its delivery inside the house of the family, all steps were designed in consultation with specialists to make sure all the necessary steps are followed to prevent the spread of the virus.

Step 1 - collect money for one box
Step 2 - call the local market to prepare a box
Step 3 - call the family to collect box after 3 days by mentioning their name (contamination lasts up to 2-3 days on surfaces, so the interior of the box will be safe by the time it arrives the house of the family ).
Together, we want to let them know that they are not alone in these difficult times. We are, therefore, inviting all our friends and networks to donate towards this noble cause.
