About the Kid's Camp Meal Program - Fuel for Future Leaders 

At Potluck Café Society , we believe that every child deserves the chance to thrive—and that begins with access to healthy, nourishing meals. For many kids, school is not just a place of learning, but also where they receive their most reliable meals. But when summer arrives, those meals disappear, and food insecurity becomes a real challenge.

That’s why we’ve partnered with Promise Vancouver to launch the Fuel for Future Leaders program—ensuring that children from low-income families attending summer camps don’t have to worry about where their next meal is coming from. Through this partnership, Potluck will provide warm, nutritious lunches each day, fueling children's bodies and minds as they play, learn, and grow through the summer months.

Currently, about 35 children attend the camp daily, supported by 10 incredible youth from the Young Leaders program—a Promise Vancouver initiative that empowers teens to build confidence, leadership skills, and community connections in a safe and supportive space. They’re guided by 3 to 5 dedicated Promise Vancouver staff members, who not only run the camp but also carry the daily responsibility of preparing meals for the children.

By stepping in to provide lunches, Potluck not only helps ensure consistent, high-quality nutrition—we also free up valuable time and energy for staff and young leaders. With this support, they can focus fully on what matters most: creating joyful, enriching, and empowering experiences for every child.

At its heart, Fuel for Future Leaders is about more than just meals. It’s about nourishing potential, building capacity, and standing together to lift up the next generation—one meal, one moment, and one child at a time.
