ABLEMIDWIFE down payment for community birth fund

Kate Parks & Joy Keller, along with the help of Dana Brown, Irene Schallock, Hilary Nichols and many more have started ABLEMIDWIFE to support the interior Alaska community with holistic, compassionate, comprehensive midwifery care. They are long time and trusted community midwives serving Interior Alaska for many decades. Kate and Joy have started a home birth practice this year which is already getting busy. The closure of the community birth center that these women had a major hand in building and sustaining for decades is a huge blow to our community and they recognize there is a need for services in Fairbanks and beyond. ABLEMIDWIFE is established as a home birth practice but we recognize the need for a facility dedicated to the care of families in the interior for community maternity care. We have started raising funds to have a down payment for such a facility. We want to continue the mission that Dana and the other historical members of the birth center wrote many years ago and continue to support the families that we know and love.
