‘Verily to Allah (swt) we belong, and verily to Him, we shall return’

Abdul Raheem Hanif, a 26-year-old man from Reading died after an unprovoked attack had occurred on 06/02/21. Police were called to the incident, following reports of an attack on Abdul Raheem and his father after finishing a shift from work, and confirmed that Abdul Raheem Hanif died at the scene in his father's hands, despite the work of emergency services.

The family is going through a very difficult time and is devastated to have lost their son at such a young age. Raheem was a family man who always took care of them and those who were in need. He was a son, brother, best friend, someone we could confide in during difficult times, and would always call us to do good. Now a big piece is missing from our hearts. He was a hard worker, running his own successful removals business and always thinking about new business ideas. Raheem loved spending time with his family and close friends, constantly trying to better himself and the individuals around him.

The Messenger (ﷺ) said: “Give charity without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity.”
The Messenger (ﷺ) was asked, “Which charity is best?” He replied, Providing water.“

For the last few years, he dedicated himself to different charity events such as fundraisers for Alzheimer’s Society. He was always trying to positively impact society as much as he could and actively donated when possible. In light of this, we feel the best way to remember Raheem is to donate to build a Water Filtration Plant in Pakistan.

This will be built in a village called GatterTehsil Sohawa District in Jhelum, Pakistan. Sadly around 40% of deaths every year in Pakistan are due to contaminated water. Drinking dirty water can cause diseases such as cholera, dysentery, typhoid, and diarrhoea. There is no clean water forcing the residents including women and young children to walk miles for clean filtered water. Each water filtration plant provides clean water every single day to an entire village of approximately 5,000 people.

Our objective is to build a Solar Powered Water Filtration Plant in this area, on the land that had been donated in Raheems cause. We aim to satisfy the growing demand in the area whilst reducing environmental impact. Solar Power is a more efficient way to provide energy to the water plant and is self-providing, taking the burden off the residents to provide a means to power it.

The cost of the Solar Powered Water Filtration Plant is roughly estimated at around £10,000, whatever money is left will be donated towards feeding the poor, helping hospitals and funding masjid resources. We will be providing pictures/videos to show everyone how their money has been used. We will be uploading everything on Facebook, Please like the Facebook page so you can be updated with everything that will be happening. https://m.facebook.com/Abdul-Raheem-Hanif-Water-Filtration-Plant-107382158054176/

Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) said,

‘A prostitute was forgiven by Allah, because, passing by a panting dog near a well and seeing that the dog was about to die of thirst, she took off her shoe, and tying it with her head-cover she drew out some water for it. So, Allah forgave her because of that’.
