As you may know, my sister Abby and brother-in-law AJ recently lost nearly everything they owned when the Eaton wildfire swept through Altadena this week. Their entire East Coast family was relieved to hear that they (and their black cat Galileo) are safe and have a place to go since the new house they purchased just before Christmas is outside of the evacuation zone.
While Abby and AJ are grateful for their safety and housing, they're now facing the challenge of starting over completely from scratch. They were planning on moving this weekend to their new house, so pretty much everything was still in their Altadena house when the fires hit.
Anyone who knows them can attest to their generous and kind nature. They're the type of people who always help others and rarely ask for anything in return. Even now, they remain optimistic and are grateful for their situation. Abby in particular is no stranger to surviving fires, as her childhood home burned down almost exactly 11 years ago. She has found a terrific match and partner in AJ, as they are both supporting each other through this difficult time and reminding each other what truly matters.
We're creating this fund to help them rebuild their lives as they move into their new home. Any support, no matter the size, would be greatly appreciated as they work to replace their essential belongings, including furniture, clothing, kitchen supplies, and other household items.
Thank you for considering helping this wonderful couple get back on their feet.
