Hi, we are the Porter family. We live in South Africa (formerly UK) on a small farm just out side of Port Elizabeth. Having recently started the adoption process of our twin boys (soon to be finalized) we realized there is a huge shortage of safe homes for babies in need.
We are fortunate that we have two houses on our farm and have given the one we don't live in to be used by a missionary friend as a kangaroo home for babies awaiting their forever home. Many of these babies are in need of preventative medication due to HIV exposure. They all need safe formula and food and some may need extra support due to disability.
Because of rolling blackouts called Loadshedding, we are never confident in electricity supply. This will negatively effect our ability to provide well for these babies.
As a family, we can tolerate the several periods of loadshedding, sometimes upto 4 times a day and always at least 2 to 4 hours a time. But this is not ideal for the babies we want to help. For this reason we are hoping to be able to put up a solar power system and storage which will mean we do not need to rely on supplied power to run. This is the purpose of our GoFundMe.
We are so grateful for every little bit of help.
Thank you
