Hi everyone, I'm setting up this page in memory of my son Aaron, who tragically passed away in August 2023, aged 10 years. He was born with a progressive condition called MTM1 myotubular myopathy which meant that the muscles he was born with would not grow with him, leading to mobility and respiratory issues throughout his life. This led to many admissions to John Radcliffe Childrens Hospital. Although his outlook was grim, chn with his severity didn't live beyond 2....he made it to 10!
One word that describes Aaron is...INSPIRING...he never let his physical boundaries restrict him from enjoying life. He loved playing Xbox with his older brother and their friends, he was a wiz at streetfighter! Despite his daily medical interventions, he loved school and learning, teaching himself to read during lockdown, loved to be in t shirts and shorts, even in the winter!, so family holidays abroad when he could sit up with support and be in the sun were magical for him. His cheeky one liners , quick wit and charm made him a much loved and cherished member of our family, hugely impacting whomever he met. We love and miss him so much.
Unfortunately Aaron's last hospital admission was the longest. For 5 months Aaron's Dad and I lived with our beautiful boy at the hospital and cared for him both as parents and as his carers, working with the wonderful doctors and nurses.
Their expertise and commitment to Aaron's health and well being, including the dedicated play specialist team, music therapist and hospital school made Aaron's stay all the more bearable and I will never forget the happiness and cheekiness they brought out of him even when he was so poorly.
Due to the whole hospital team Aaron was able to come home for the last month of his life, his last wish granted and to them I will always be truly thankful for.
Please join me in making a difference. I'm raising money in aid of OXFORD HOSPITALS CHARITY and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
