Con apenas dos años de existencia, las Madres Buscadoras de Sonora (MBS) han localizado los restos de 323 personas y han ubicado a 122 individuos con vida. Sin embargo, de acuerdo a las fichas de búsqueda elaboradas por la propia organización, todavía hay 2,897 personas desaparecidas (sin contar todas aquellas que no han sido reportadas). El colectivo MBS busca fortalecerse como organización para poder seguir elaborando fichas y saliendo a búsqueda. Para esto necesitamos tu ayuda.
El Colectivo MBS está integrado en su mayoría por mujeres que, además de buscar a sus seres queridos desaparecidos, funcionan como una red de apoyo mutuo. Hasta ahora, este colectivo no ha contado con apoyos institucionales efectivos. Fortalecer la organización de MBS ayudará a las buscadoras a incidir en la agenda electoral y presentar sus demandas a los candidatos a la gobernatura del estado de Sonora con miras a establecer un dialogo con las autoridades. Con el dinero recaudado se facilitará la reunión de las integrantes, la elaboración de la agenda, y se promoverán políticas públicas que den prioridad a la búsqueda de personas, la investigación, y el apoyo a las víctimas. Within only two years since its creation, the Madres Buscadoras de Sonora (MBS) have managed to locate the remains of 323 people as well as 122 living individuals who have rejoined their families. However, according to the search files prepared by the organization itself, there are still 2,897 missing persons (not counting all those who have not been reported) in the state of Sonora alone. The MBS collective seeks to strengthen itself as an organization in order to continue preparing files and searching for their loved ones. This is why we need your help.
The MBS Collective is an organization composed mostly of women who, in addition to searching for their missing loved ones, function as a mutual support network. Unlike other groups in Mexico, this one does not have the support of the state government to carry out its mission.
The Madres Buscadoras de Sonora’s goal is to influence the current electoral agenda and present their demands to candidates for the governorship of the state of Sonora before the June 6th elections. With the money raised, the families of disappeared persons will be able to strengthen their organization to promote public policies that prioritize the search for the disappeared, the investigation of their deaths, and the support available to the victims. Your help can make the difference.
