Hi, we are the Houpts. This is our story as to why we are asking for support again.

We adopted our son Hunter, in January of 2024. He is such an amazing little boy. We would love to adopt again, to have a family of four.

Here is a little story about how we got here:

Let's start from the beginning. Meagan was born with a heart condition called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). HLHS, basically means that she is living with half a heart. She had three open heart surgeries before the age of 3.

Meagan met Billy in 2012 and started dating. They got married in April 2017 excited for life and settled down in the sunshine state.

In February of 2022, Meagan had an appointment with her cardiologist, where they talked about the possibility of having a child. The cardiologist said we could run a stress test to see if Meagan could have a child on her own.

So, in August 2022, Meagan did the stress test and went in for her appointment with the cardiologist to talk about the results. The cardiologist said that it is possible for Meagan to carry her own child, but it comes with risks. 50/50 chance of something happening to the baby, or Meagan, including death.

That is when Meagan and Billy talked seriously about other options. We looked at many avenues of becoming parents, but we decided on adopting to grow our family.
