Kennedy Grace

This is my niece Kennedy Grace. Kenny is a beautiful little girl who was born on 3/9/20. This little love has had a rough start and so have her first time parents. At just 2 days old the doctors detected a heart murmur. Just a week old and she was diagnosed with a large ventricular septal defect (a large hole in the bottom two chambers of her heart). As a result of VSD she also suffers from severe silent reflux. Kenny is in a lot of pain when she eats so she began refusing the bottle. Leading her to not gain enough weight and a week spent in the hospital (which was on moms first mothers day). During her hospital stay not many answers were provided, but she was given a feeding tube which has helped her to grow big and strong. She has been to countless GI and Cardiologist appointments to figure out how to make her more comfortable and get her on the right track to being the healthy 3 month old she deserves to be. Unfortunately due to COVID19 her friends and family have not been able to see Kenny or give her new parents much help or company during all of these adjustments and emotional times. The next big hurdle for Kenny and her parents is surgery on July 2nd to close the hole in heart. This is not only incredibly scary for new parents, but expensive as well. This can cost up to $25k after insurance. What is most difficult aside from the financial burden, due to all of the restrictions in the doctors offices and hospitals only one parent is able to go to appointments and stay in the hospital with her (even after her major surgery). Kenny has been blessed with 2 amazing parents that have been such wonderful advocates for her and will do anything to get her better.
